Something to explain what this does

IWFM Dubai

Emrill, the leading Facilities Management firm in Dubai hosted the June 2019 Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management seminar on the role of Facilities Managers in facilitating access for People of Determination.

Head of Engagement for Direct Access, Steve Dering said “Despite having one of the most accessible buildings in the world, if it is not maintained it loses its accessibility. It is the Facilities Managers and their teams that maintain those access standards and welcome visitors. From ensuring that delivery drivers do not park in People of Determination spaces to keeping ramps clear into the building, ensuring security and reception staff engage with visitors, cleaners must avoid tying up alarm cords in washrooms, regular servicing of air conditioning units to reduce background noise and fire marshals need to understand how an evacuation chair works”.

The seminar covered some of the key features of the Dubai Universal Design Code. One of the key topics discussed was the requirement for an Evacuation Chair on every floor above the first story.
